Honest design. Practical beauty. Less but better. Spaces for lingering, not rushing. Embracing imperfection. Welcoming and warm. Always full of character and life. Connected to nature. Made for people.
iki kaya
iki kaya means “two rocks” in Turkish. The name comes from a white limestone outcrop in our Aegean olive grove—two rocks rising up from the land.
Rock is one of the most elemental natural materials. When carefully stacked, it can form buildings that feel tactile, enduring, and deeply rooted in place. This idea—of making architecture that is grounded, honest, and shaped by time—sits at the heart of our work.
iki kaya studio
iki kaya studio grew from a desire for a more hands-on design process. Working collaboratively with owners, users, builders and craftsmen, we create spaces where everything has a purpose and a warm, lived-in character permeates throughout.
From the first sketch to a completed building, our approach balances ambition with reality—bringing ideas into the realm of the buildable. We listen closely, test ideas, weigh trade-offs, and plan thoroughly—always illustrating how a space will feel to inhabit, not just how it will look.
Architecture & design from London to Turkey
We are based and work in both the big city of London, UK and a small village of Bademli, Turkey. Our work spans architecture, interiors, bespoke furniture, and landscapes.
In London, our focus is on new housing, home extensions, and flat refurbishments—taking projects from early feasibility and concept design through planning, detailed design, and construction.
In Turkey, we work on holiday homes rooted in their landscape, shaping outdoor gathering spaces with natural gardens, and making furniture that specifically fits each place.
Working between two cultures broadens our perspective and informs our work. Wherever we are, we use natural materials, texture, and light to soften spaces and create environments that feel calm, generous, and welcoming.
Kim Walker, Design Director
Kim combines creativity, problem-solving, practicality and warmth in everything she does.
Her design perspective is shaped by life lived across three countries — nature and the great outdoors from growing up on the U.S. west coast, lively urban street life from studying and working in London, and craft and simplicity from a village on the Turkish Aegean that she now calls a second home.
Kim has worked for award winning architecture practices in London, such as Levitt Bernstein Architects. Kim holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon and a Master of Architecture from The Bartlett, University College London.
She is a licensed Architect in Oregon, USA.
Eren Gokcek, Project Director
Eren brings strategic clarity and product thinking to iki kaya, helping shape ideas from early intent through to real-world delivery.
With a background in building and scaling complex projects across technology, health, and public sectors, he supports the studio in defining direction, structuring decision-making, and navigating the space between concept and execution. His work focuses on asking the right questions early, testing assumptions, and ensuring that thoughtful design is matched by practical outcomes.
Originally from Turkey, Eren brings his local cultural knowledge to the studio —making sure ideas, intentions, and an on-site conversation doesn’t get lost in translation.
